CIC's Air-Core Reactors & Non-Ventilated Transformers in Taipei 101
2023/04/11 Challenge Industrial Co., Ltd. (CIC)24 units of CIC's Air-Core Reactors are used inside Taipei 101 (in the electrical substation of Taiwan Power Company). CIC’s Air-Core Reactors are known for their superior quality and are designed to work in conjunction with 25.5 kV/9000 kVAR capacitor banks. These 25.5 kV / 180 kVA dry-type reactors, with a resin-cast exterior, are low-maintenance and long-lasting. The air-core construction contributes to their low noise level and low core loss. In addition, this type of detuned reactor has excellent insulation and are moisture-resistant.
Another CIC product used by the Taipei 101 is the “Non-Ventilated Resin-Encapsulated Transformer.” These transformers are noted for their reduced noise level compared to ordinary dry-type or cast-resin transformers. Compact and installable in a number of different ways, these transformers are also self-extinguishing. With a durable IP20 enclosure, these transformers come in Regular Type and "Silent" Type, for the lowest sound levels. For 20 years, since Taipei 101’s opening in 2003, CIC’s non-ventilated transformers are the only product of this type that is used in this world-famous building.
CIC is proud to have contributed to the energy infrastructure of Taipei 101, one of the most iconic buildings in the world. CIC products are designed and manufactured to meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability. The CIC team believe in delivering excellence and were thrilled to have successfully completed this project for Taiwan Power Company.
We at CIC constantly strive to develop innovative products and solutions to meet the evolving needs of its customers. Our mission is to provide energy-efficient and sustainable solutions to power the world. We look forward to continuing our efforts to contribute to the global energy sector and we thank you for your trust and support.

Air Core Reactors
These MV air-core reactors are single-phase dry-type series reactors which are mainly used together with 12 kV or 24 kV capacitor banks in electrical substations of utility companies. The insulation shell of the product is molded in epoxy resin. To reduce core loss and noise, this type of self-cooling detuned reactor utilizes the air-core design and construction. Besides having excellent insulation and moisture resistance, these air-core reactors can withstand large short-circuit current, are easy to maintain, and offer great durability.
